Why would genetic changes affect how I respond to a medication?

Your genetics can affect how your body processes medicine and how well the medicine works for you.

Some people break down drugs too fast or too slow, which can cause side effects or the medicine not to work as expected.

Looking at how your genetics and medications interact is called pharmacogenomics.

While your genetics are important, they’re just one part of the picture. Other things, like your age, weight, overall health, and other medications, also affect how you respond to medications.
