# How does the CAD integrated risk score help determine my risk?

## The integrated risk score looks at many small changes in your DNA that are known to affect the chance of getting heart disease.

This test adds up all the changes present to give an estimate of your genetic risk. This information is then combined with other risk factors like your cholesterol, blood pressure, and lifestyle to give an estimate of your risk of getting CAD. This helps your doctor better understand your chances of getting heart disease and decide what steps to take to keep your heart healthy.
